As more seismic change has emerged on the public sector horizon, the role of the risk manager has become increasingly vital in building organisational resilience. It is anticipated that as risk will continue to present both threat and opportunity, the risk manager will only become more pivotal.
With restructures, mergers, transformation and cuts change is inevitable but so too has the role of the risk manager diversified. Facilitating discussion, creating connections, identifying interdependencies and long-term thinking all requires great technical skill, understanding and interpersonal skills. Risk managers should have a voice at the top table and, consequently need the right tools, support and investment to do so.
Matt will review the core responsibilities of a risk manager and opportunities to influence risk based decision making within public sector organisations.
