Alarm launches a guide on preparing and responding to a major incident

After identifying that business continuity plans (BCPs) do not always provide user friendly practical assistance to those dealing with the immediate aftermath of a major incident, Alarm have worked closely with Vericlaim loss adjusters to develop a short best-practice guide that provides helpful hints and tips for both preparing and responding to a major incident.

In developing the Guide, Major loss: Alarm guide to preparation and immediate response Alarm and Vericlaim obtained Members' views on their experience of major losses and their readiness to deal with future events. The results of this short survey are explained in a separate summary document and were instrumental in the creation of the best practice guidance.

sThe Guide is designed as a quick reference resource, providing practical guidance on what can be done both pre and post incident to ensure impacts are mitigated. It is written from an insurance perspective and encourages early engagement with insurance partners to ensure that practical, procedural and financial support is accessed effectively. The Guide is not intended to replace an organisation's BCP, but rather to complement existing plans.
