Building a safer future - 27 February 2019

The Government's implementation plan to the Hackitt Review was released in December 2018. With so many grey areas emerging, the Fire Protection Agency (FPA) is delivering a one day seminar to update those affected by such significant outcomes, on how businesses and stakeholders can best prepare for changing safety standards. 

The seminar will take place on Wednesday 27 February, 10:00 - 16:00 at the Fire Service College in Moreton-in-Marsh, to discuss:

  • The findings and recommendations of Building a Safer Future and the delivery of all Dame Judith Hackitt's recommendations as highlighted in the Government's implementation plan. 
  • Understanding what the implications are for current legislation, and guidance, and anticipating changes that will come in the months ahead.
  • BIM and the 'golden thread' - the role of BIM and improving the visibility of building information.
  • Effectively evaluating and understanding what fire safety concerns of residents of high rise buildings and lessons learned to date.
  • An understanding of third-party certification, and its growing importance in ensuring building and occupant safety.
  • What the future is for compliance and enforcement activity - approach, resourcing and penalties.
  • How sectors can work collaboratively and with understanding to drive up standards and response to fire incidents.
  • The outcomes to date of the compentency standards group workstreams activities and likely impacts on design, construction, fire and management personnel.
