WEBINAR WEDNESDAY - SOCIAL MEDIA: DUTY OF CARE, CLAIMS AND RISK MANAGEMENT

Wednesday 1 July 2020

Social media is an evolving environment and is fast becoming a regular feature in our everyday lives, in a personal and professional capacity.

The greater use of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn in professional organisations, increases the potential risks posed by this form of communication.

In our latest webinar, Steve Kuncewicz, Partner at BLM discusses the changing landscape of social media focusing on the opportunities it provides, as well as the risks.

Steve also discusses claims that could arise from the use of social media including data breaches, advertising and consumer law and defamation.

In April 2019 the UK Government introduced the Online Harms White Paper which sets out the Government’s plans for a world-leading package of measures to keep UK users safe online.

This will bring a new duty of care from organisations to ensure that users are protected when engaging on social media platforms. Steve discusses how this will effect public service organisations and provides advice on how to start to implement changes into your organisation's risk management framework to limit the risk of potential claims.
