"There's a disconnect. Risk process isn't driving action and strategic outcomes" (Senior Leader feedback, July 2025). This interactive session outlines our university's approach to assessing maturity using the 'ALARM National Performance Model for Risk Management in Public Services' in Autumn 2025. We will share progress and early learnings from implementing new, non-bureaucratic tactics designed to conquer leadership overwhelm and sharpen focus. These include delivering dedicated senior leader risk sessions, sharpening the focus of faculty risk presentations, limiting the number of strategic risks for better oversight, and embedding risk appetite directly into leadership discussions. Delegates will apply these tactics during the session and share their own solutions for kickstarting strategic risk maturity.
