3C: Surviving S.114 and the commissioners

1pm – 2pm GMT, 22 June 2026 ‐ 1 hour

Session

Nottingham City Council recently faced significant scrutiny following a Section 114 report and the Government’s appointment of commissioners. These events led to major changes in governance and presented considerable challenges for the organisation. With finance and governance systems now overhauled and risk management significantly improved, we remain hopeful the commissioners will leave early this year as planned.

This training session will share our journey, the lessons we learned, and the practical steps we took to rebuild assurance, strengthen governance, and embed effective risk management. Attendees will gain insights into navigating organisational crises, implementing sustainable improvement, and fostering a culture of accountability and resilience. We believe these reflections will provide valuable learning for ALARM members facing similar challenges or seeking to strengthen their own organisational governance.
