Session 5 - Moving risk from compliance to strategic advantage with AI

3pm – 4pm BST, 15 May 2026 ‐ 1 hour

Session

At the University of Sheffield, Emma Hartley is looking to move risk management from a compliance activity to a strategic advantage. In this session, Emma will share her experience of using AI as a 'collaborative teammate' capable of drafting risk statements, simulating committee scrutiny and assessing risk maturity.

Emma will share practical insights from her work, including the development of a corporate risk assurance map, senior leader training and refining the risk management policy. She will also provide space for attendees to share their own experiences and ideas including a 'hands-on' opportunity for delegates to test these AI techniques themselves, moving from theory to immediate application.
