In this session, Liz Rogers, University of Strathclyde, and Kelly Oliver, Newcastle University, will explore why risk and business continuity professionals can be each other's greatest allies. Drawing on their own experiences, they will discuss how the two disciplines can work together to engage senior leaders, focus attention on what matters most, and ensure organisations understand both the likelihood and (arguably more importantly) the potential impact of disruption. The session will also explore the importance of bringing different perspectives into risk and continuity discussions, challenging assumptions and strengthening organisational resilience through more informed decision-making.

Kelly has been a Risk Manager in the higher education sector for ten years. Kelly also spent sixteen years in a range of different roles in financial services prior to joining Newcastle University in 2014 to oversee strategic risk and operational risk. Kelly is also Chair of the ALARM Higher Education Committee, working to raise the profile of risk management across the HE sector.
