Richard was chosen by ALARM’s South East Committee and Marsh for his perseverance and committed attitude, which is always delivered in the most humble of ways. The Commitee said: "His support for the SE committee is greatly appreciated and he plays an important role in the success of our events. Richard is a worthy recipient of the award, fully representing Bob’s values."

Presented with the Award at the South Conference, Richard said:

“It’s a great honour to be recognised by my peers in such a warm and positive way”

Richard is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the City of London’s Risk and Insurance team, including triaging, prioritising and allocating work. This work includes all classes of claims, any and all insurance related queries that may come up throughout the organisation, operational risk management advice and property risk management. He also supports policy renewals and tenders.

Richard says: “I’ve been involved with ALARM for around ten years and really value the opportunities it presents to share best practice, meet counterparts in similar roles at other organisations, and work together to tackle problems we all share.”

“The Bob Craik award is very special as Bob was such a well-liked and well-respected colleague and I’m delighted to have been selected as the 2024 recipient.”

Julia Reffell, Managing Director at Marsh said:

“Richard is an excellent team player; he is knowledgeable, open and enthusiastic. Richard’s persistence shows what can achieved by determination and hard work. His willingness to keep trying and pushing forward despite obstacles, demonstrates his overall approach to life and his role at the City of London. A thoroughly deserving recipient.”

Bob Craik was a former ALARM member and South East Committee member who died in 2015. He was a passionate supporter of ALARM for many years. In 2015, JLT Specialty (now part of Marsh) began sponsoring an award in Bob’s memory.

This award is given annually to an ALARM member who exhibits the same professional approach as Bob did: taking pride in their work, having integrity, being motivated, committed to his authority and roles, reliable and a team player.
