Dr Anna Lamont has, in the past, described NHS National commissioning and National procurement as either the NHS branch of MI5 or the council drains company, depending on the most recent risks managed. We are at our best when we are unseen, working quietly to avoid unexpected problems or smells. It is a measure of our success that some of the most significant risks managed in recent years are the ones that never made the news.

Anna will consider the unique, often unseen, challenges of risk management within NHS Scotland's healthcare commissioning, national networks, and procurement. How we maintain oversight, consider external and internal risks, and what we are still trying to get right.
