Alasdair MacDonald from Zurich Municipal will kick start the day with a session titled Property fact find, followed closely by a member practioner led session on Benchmarking and Browne Jacobson's session on Trading companies. Gallagher's Cyber & Technology Director, James Wall will host a session on Cyber risk and insurance, focusing on the current cyber threat and claims landscape as well as specific underwriting criteria.
After some lunch and networking, Marsh will host their Policy coverage game, whilst ALARM member Mark Scrivener will present on Demonstrating effective risk management as part of the local authority Best Value Duty. DAC Beachroft will round the educational day up with an hour-long session on Tindall v TVPA: what it concerns and why you need to know about it.
We end the day with some valuable networking amongst our fellow ALARM members and sponsors.

Mark will look at the contribution that effective risk management is expected to make to meeting that duty as a key characteristic of a well-functioning authority. As well as what are viewed as indicators of potential failures in governance and risk management arrangements, according to the statutory guidance released in May 2024. The interactive discussion will focus on how risk managers can demonstrate effective risk management practices are in place, to provide adequate assurance to relevant stakeholders in an increasingly challenging environment that has seen several local authorities issued with best value interventions in the past few years.
While the session is focused on local authority setting, the risk management themes raised will be relevant to all public sector bodies.
